Men's Golf Finishes Second at Linda Lowery Invitational

Men's Golf Finishes Second at Linda Lowery Invitational

The Southwestern Men's Golf Team finished 2nd this week at the Linda Lowery Invitational in Round Rock, Texas at Teravista Golf Club. The first day of the Linda Lowery Invitational brought great weather and course conditions for the Pirates as they began the tournament early Monday morning. Leading the Pirates on Monday were Christian Rodriguez scoring a three-under 69 and Matthew Peesker shooting an even-par 72. This strong start put the pirates in a great position to earn a spot on the leaderboard on Tuesday afternoon.

Tuesday brought more challenges for the Pirates as cold temperatures and strong winds persisted throughout the tournament's second day. With the firm course conditions and strong winds, the course played extremely difficult for the entire field. Despite the difficult conditions, the Pirates were able to post impressive scores to lead to their 2nd place finish. Christian Rodriguez, Matthew Peesker, and Austin Kelley led the pirates during the final round. Chrisitan Rodriguez and Matthew Peesker both finished individually in the top 10, Rodriguez tied for 2nd place (146) and Peesker tied for 5th place (147). Completing the first team's scores were Logan Pullin (154 - tied for 21st), Austin Kelley (156 - tied for 25th), Bryce Stiemert (158 - tied for 33rd), and Nicholas Hoisington (160 - tied for 41st).

The Southwestern Men's Golf Team's second team at the tournament finished in 10th place. The second team was led by Ian Cameron (165 - tied for 48th).

The Southwestern University Men's Golf Team will compete again on April 3rd - 4th in Georgetown, TX at the West Region Invitational.
