Men's Golf Finishes Ninth at Jekyll Island Invitational

JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. — The Southwestern University Pirates men's golf team finished ninth in a field of 30 at the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational this weekend. 

The Pirates opened the weekend in the 16th spot after the first round, scoring a 299 with Illinois Wesleyan and LaGrange College leading the pack at 288. The Pirates climbed the leaderboard after the second day, moving to ninth after scoring a 288 in Round 2. Southwestern held steady there in Round 3, shooting a 295 to finish at 882, which was 18 over par. 

Cade Osgood led the Pirates, scoring a 72 in each of the first two rounds and 74 in the third for a score of 218 to finish two over par, tied for 22nd. Matthew Christl followed with a 220, which was good enough for four over par and tied for 33rd. 

John Kellum (38) scored a 221, Sutherland Stith (47) shot a 223, and Devon Horne (117) shot a 235 to round out the Pirates' performances. 

The Pirates will return home to host the West Region Invitational at Berry Creek Golf Course from Sunday, March 31 through Tuesday, April 2.
