Men's Golf Finishes Fourth at Alamo City Classic

SAN ANTONIO — Southwestern men's golfer Christian Rodriguez finished second on the individual leaderboard at the Alamo City Classic at The Quarry Golf Course, scoring a 211 to lead the Pirates, who finished fifth. 

Rodriguez entered the third and final round in first place after scoring below 70 in each of the first two rounds, holding a three-stroke lead over Trinity's DJ Springer. However, Rodriguez fell off his first-day pace, scoring a 76 in the final round to finish two strokes off the lead. 

Thomas Kuznar held steady, scoring a 73 after a 71 and 74 in the first two rounds to move into a tie for ninth place with a score of 218. Colin O'Hern scored a 77 to finish with a 230, tying for 25th. Matthew Peesker finished at 237, tied for 31st, and Austin Kelley scored 239 in 34th place. Bryce Stiemert, competing as an individual, scored a 231 to tie for 27th. 

Trinity won the event, placing two in the top five and four in the top 10 to score an 858. Dallas finished second with an 872, followed by Concordia at 885 and Schreiner University at 892. Hardin-Simmons trailed Southwestern with a 906. 

Next weekend, Southwestern will travel to Destin, Florida to compete in the Golfweek Invitational, which runs from Saturday, Oct. 16 to Tuesday, Oct. 19.
