Men's Golf Improves One Spot on Final Day

KILLEEN, Texas - Southwestern shot the third lowest overall round the final day of action to move up one spot to third place in the UMHB Fall Invitational on Tuesday. 

Cameron Button was on fire on day one, shooting the second lowest round of the day (70) but faltered a little on day two but was still the highest Pirate finisher, coming in tied for 11th with an overall score of 150. Cody Hebert was hot on Button's heels with a very consistent showing, coming in tied for 16th with 151 strokes (75-76). Mikey Vaughn and James Charles had a solid tournament as well, both ending with 158 strokes and tied for 40th. Jodan Cowart rounded out the Southwestern showing with a 154 and tied for 32nd. 

Southwestern was the second highest Division III finisher, behind only host institution Mary Hardin-Baylor. Northwood University out of Texas won the tournament with a 588, just 15 strokes ahead of the Pirates. 

SU next heads to Oglethorpe University on October 8-9 to compete in the Royal Lakes Invitational in Atlanta, Ga.
