Pirates up four spots on day two; miss cut at NCAA Championships

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Southwestern posted a strong showing on day two, shaving nine strokes off their first round but were unable to make up enough ground and finished in 28th place at the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship. 

Devon Horne continued to lead the Pirates, finishing with 155 strokes (76-79) and tied for 67th. Tyler Gammill shot the lowest round of the day with a 77 to finish one shot behind Horne at 156 strokes and tied for 77th. 

Cody Hebert shaved four strokes off his opening round to finish with 162 strokes as did Connor Murphy after taking six strokes off his first round (84-78). Andrew DeHennis rounded out Southwestern on the links with an 82 on day two to end with 168 strokes. 

Southwestern finished with a combined team score of 635 and were just 14 strokes out of the top 20. 

This marks the end of the season for Southwestern as only the top 14 teams advance to day three.
