
KERRVILLE, Texas - The Southwestern University men's golf team shot a 297 (+9) for a two-round score of 590 (+14) to come-from-behind and win the Schreiner Spring Shootout on Tuesday afternoon, their first win of the spring season.
Schreiner, the leader after round one, finished second after shooting a 308 in round two for a two-round score of 597 (+21) while Texas Lutheran was third with a two-round score of 599 (+23). Dallas had the low-round of the day at 292 (+5), finishing fourth with a two-round score of 604 (+28). Trinity finished fifth (+31) while Evangel was sixth (+46).
Four Pirate golfers would finish in the top 10 in the event.
Junior Devon Horne and sophomore Cade Osgood each shot a 74 (+2) to finish fourth and fifth overall. Horne finished with a two-round score of 144 (E) while Osgood shot a 146 (+2). Junior Matthew Christl shot a 75 (+3) for a two-round score of 149 (+5) and a seventh place finish while senior Sutherland Stith shot a 74 (+2) for a two-round score of 151 (+7).
Senior Tyler Gammill and freshman Zane Warren each shot a 158 (+14) to round out the Pirate scorers.
Southwestern will take the weekend off and return to action on March 16th as they head to the Georgia Coast for the Jekyll Island Collegiate.
