JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. - Facing some of the top Division III men's golf teams in the nation at the Jekyll Island Collegiate the Pirates had an impressive opening round, ending the day in third place and just three strokes off the lead. 

Cade Osgood and Tyler Gammill led the charge with a four-under-par 68, finishing the round tied for third. Osgood had a pair of eagles to go along with four birdies on the day. Gammill posted eight birdies including a string of six straight beginning on the fifth hole.

Sutherland Stith shot five-over-par to end the round tied for 77th. Matthew Christl came in tied for 89th with a 78 and Devon Horne posted an 80.

Second round action gets underway on Saturday with the final round on Sunday.
