Men's Golf Kick Starts Fall Season with Second Place Finish

SEGUIN, Texas - A total team effort highlighted the first tournament of the fall season for the Pirate men's golf team. SU finished in second place out of 11 teams and just  three shots out of first place at the John Bohmann Memorial Invite.

Mikey Vaughn and Cameron Button led the charge with a three-round score of 217 to end tied for sixth place. Texas Lutheran's Adam Peterson won the tournament with a 208. Vaughan posted a 71-76-70 while Button had a 71-72-74 for the tournament.

Close behind the leaders for Southwestern was newcomer Cody Hebert who came in tied for eighth place with 220 strokes. Hebert showed signs of making a huge difference for the Pirates, shooting the low round for SU in the second round with a 70.

Not far behind were Jordan Cowart and James Charles who posted a 222 and 224 respectively. Cowart (74-75-73) came in tied for 15th while Charles (76-76-72) finished tied for 22nd.

The second place finish is a great start for the Pirates and will undoubtedly provide positive momentum to the team as they head to Tunica, Miss. to face nationally-ranked opponents at the Tunica National on September 16-17.
