Gammill wins West Region Invitational; Southwestern takes second

GEORGETOWN, Texas - Southwestern made up four strokes on Mary Hardin-Baylor in the final round of play but were unable to make up enough ground for the win to finish in second place at the West Region Invitational. 

Tyler Gammill was steady through all three rounds and tied the lowest single round of the tournament on Tuesday with a 70. His score of 217 (73-74-70) earned him the individual title. 

Matthew Christl shot a 221 for the three rounds (73-74-74) finishing in sixth place overall. Sutherland Stith also took a top ten spot, tying for ninth with 224 strokes (77-73-74). Andrew DeHennis finished tied for 16th with 229 strokes (74-78-77) while Cade Osgood rounded out Southwestern's team score with a 234.

Individual competitor Andrew Augustine shaved ten strokes off his second round to finish tied for 21st with 231 strokes (77-82-72) while Curtis Cuccia shot a 245 and John Kellum a 248. 

The West Region Invitational is the final regular season competition for the Pirates. They next head to Blanco, Texas to compete in the SCAC Championship at Vaaler Creek Country Club beginning April 24.
