Button and DeHennis pace Pirates at John Bohmann Invite

BLANCO, Texas – Cameron Button and Andrew DeHennis each fired a first round 72 to help pace the Southwestern University men's golf team Monday in first round action at the John Bohmann Memorial Invitational.

DeHennis got off to a hot start on the front nine as he carded a 34 and followed it up with a 38 on the back nine. Button's scorecard was the exact opposite as DeHennis once in the clubhouse as he opened with a 38 and shot a 34 on the back nine to also finish at 72.

The duo will open Tuesday's final round in a five-way tie with three other golfers. Jimmy Keener of Schreiner, Tyler Kolb of Texas Lutheran and Kalen Vos of Trinity also shot 72 on Monday and sit tied atop the leaderboard.

Despite all the congestion at the top of the individual leaderboard, the Pirates hold a four stroke lead over Trinity with a 292 while the Tigers finished the day at 296. Host, Texas Lutheran ended the day in third after a 301, while Concordia fired a 305 to check in at fourth and Schreiner rounds out the top five after a first day 306.

Final round action is set to begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday morning at Vaaler Creek Golf Club
