#19 Men's golf takes second at West Region Invitational

GEORGETOWN, Texas - Southwestern shot a final round 302 to finish in second place overall at the West Region Invitational hosted at Berry Creek Country Club. SU ended with a 902 team score and was edged out by Concordia by five strokes. 

Cody Hebert led the way with a 222 after shooting a 74 in the final round to finish tied for third. TLU's Kraig Zimmerhanzel won the tournament with a one-under-par 215. 

Andrew DeHennis closed with this lowest round of the event, 73, finishing tied for 10th with a 225. Connor Murphy and Devon Horne weren't far behind as they finished tied for 23rd with 231 strokes. Tyler Gammill finished Southwestern's team score with a 238 and tied for 41st. 

Southwestern's individuals had a strong showing as well, led by Matthew Christl's 234. Curtis Cuccia ened with 236 strokes and Michael Gebhardt posted a 244. 

The event saw two holes-in-one on day two as Howard Payne's Andrew Errico posted his on the par-three 17 and TLU's Wyatt Blezinger recorded his on the par-three eight. 

The West Region Invitational marks the end of the regular season for the Pirates as Southwestern next heads to the SCAC Championship at Vaalar Creek Country Club beginning on April 18th.
