Men's Golf Ends Golfweek Fall Invitational With Its Best Round

DESTIN, Fla. — The Southwestern University Pirates men's golf team closed the Golfweek Division III Fall Invitational with its strongest round, jumping four spots on the leaderboard to finish eighth.

Cade Osgood was consistent throughout the event as the lone Pirate to finish in the top 10, scoring a 70 in each of the three rounds to finish tied for seventh. Osgood opened on Hole 10 and picked up bogeys on 13 and 16 but birdied on 18 and picked up his play on the back nine, picking up birdies on Holes 1, 4, 5, and 7 to offset two bogeys, finishing one under par. 

Osgood led the Pirates with 13 birdies, finishing one under on Pars 3, 4, and 5. 

Austin Kelley had a breakthrough round, opening with birdies on four of his first seven holes, finishing with six on the day compared to just one bogey to score a Southwestern-best 66 to climb from 51st all the way into the top 25 at 22. 

John Kellum held steady from his Round 2 performance, scoring a 71 to finish with a 216 in a tie for 26th place. Kellum birdied on two of his first four holes and had three overall but offset them with a bogey on 16 and double bogey on 9 to finish even par. 

Christian Rodriguez found a medium between his first-round (70) and second-round (80) scores with a 75, picking up four bogeys and hitting par on the rest to finish in a tie for 64th. Thomas Kuznar had two birdies to  finish with his best round, scoring a 74 to finish with a 230, tied for 79th. 

Southwestern University will travel next Monday to compete in the ASC Preview at the Hideout in Brownwood, Texas.
