Men's Golf Ends Day 1 of John Bohmann Memorial Invitational in Fourth

SEGUIN, Texas — The Southwestern University Pirates men's golf team opened its season at the John Bohmann Invitational, finishing Day 1 of the event in fourth place, scoring a 580 through two rounds to finish the day 12 over par.

"We played okay but didn't really get anything going in either round," Head Coach Greg Sigler said. "It's really a new look to our team outside of Cade [Osgood] and John [Kellum]. We're 10 out of the lead, so I'll be interested to see how we play from behind tomorrow, hopefully we can make up some ground."

Senior John Kellum paced the Pirates, finishing the first round tied for fifth at two under par and moving up to a tie for fourth after shooting a 72 in the second round, finishing one under par at 141.

Cade Osgood finished the day in a three-way tie for 16th along with teammate Colin O'Hern and first year Austin Kelley, who competed as a member of the Pirates' second team. The trio shot 146, finishing four over par.

Christian Rodriguez rounded out the Southwestern appearances in the top 20, in a four-way tie for 19th place, shooting a 74 and 73 to finish five over par at 147.

McMurry University finished in second place at 570, which was good for two over par. Dallas (577) and LeTourneau University (579) followed. McMurry's Lane Roye topped the individual leaderboard, finishing three under with a 139.

Southwestern will resume play tomorrow morning at 8:00 a.m.
