
TUNICA, Miss. — The Southwestern men's golf team finished the first day of the Rhodes College Fall Invitational tied for third place with a two-round score of 590.
Senior Thomas Kuznar and junior Nicholas Hoisington paced the Pirates with scores of 144, tying each other for sixth place and four strokes off the lead. Kuznar tallied one eagle and eight birdies through two rounds. Hoisington had one eagle and seven birdies.
Junior Christian Rodriguez had a strong opening round with a 72 but fell off that mark with a 78 in the second round, scoring a 150 to tie for 26th.
Freshman Bryce Stiemert was steady with 26 made pars, scoring a 152, good for a tie for 35th. Junior Austin Kelley finished just inside the top 50 at 49th with a score of 156.
Huntingdon College currently sits in first with a score of 579, led by three players in the top-10. Sewanee is in second with their own Pearse Lucus leading the field with a score of 140.
Southwestern will complete the competition tomorrow with an 8:30 a.m. tee-off time.
