Men's Golf Finish SA Shootout In Fifth

SAN ANTONIO — Southwestern men's golf opened its season with a fifth-place finish at the San Antonio Shootout, falling 10 strokes off their average through two rounds to finish with a score of 943.

Nicholas Hoisington led the Pirates in his first event for Southwestern, scoring a 235 with 75, 80, 80 splits to finish tied for 15th at 19 over par. Thomas Kuznar finished two strokes behind, scoring an 80 in the third round to finish tied for 21st. 

Hunter Holloway shot a 242 to finish 26 over par and tie for 34th. Colin O'Hern and Christian Rodriguez scored 244 and 245 to finish in ties for 36th and 38th. The latter recovered from a rough first-round score of 96 to finish strong with rounds of 76 and 77. 

Trinity University won the event with a three-round score of 917, followed by McMurry (926), Concordia (932), and Texas Lutheran (939). Southwestern will resume play at the Schreiner Shootout at the Comanche Trace Golf Club in Kerrville, Texas, on Monday, March 8.
