Southwestern Finishes First Day in Fourth at San Antonio Shootout

SAN ANTONIO — Southwestern men's golf sits in a tie for fourth with East Texas Baptist after the first two rounds of the San Antonio Shootout, scoring a 622 on the first day of the Pirates' return to competitive action. 

The Pirates were paced by sophomore transfer Nicholas Hoisington, who opened with a strong first round, scoring 75 to head into the second round in a tie for fourth. Hoisington fell off the pace in Round 2, scoring an 80 to finish at 155 for the day, tied for 15th. 

Freshman Hunter Holloway and junior Thomas Kuznar followed two strokes behind Hoisington, scoring a 157 to finish the day tied for 23rd. Kuznar overcame a rough start, improving his first-round performance by five strokes to score a 76 in the second round. 

Junior Colin O'Hern scored a 160 and sits in a tie for 33rd, and sophomore Christian Rodriguez struggled early but bounced back in the second round to score a 168, tied for 49th. 

Trinity University currently leads the field with a score of 605, followed by Texas Lutheran at 613 and McMurry University at 617. McMurry's Brendon Lowrance is the current individual leader. Southwestern will conclude the event tomorrow.
