Cowart carded a +2 for a total 290 at the championships to finish third in his second trip to the NCAA National Championships. His third place finish also helped the Southwestern men's golf team to its highest ever finish at the NCAA Championships with an 11th place finish.

A junior from Austin, Cowart was named Second Team All-America as he finished outside of the top 10 in just two of his nine tournaments on the year. He won the Southwestern/University of Dallas Dual and earned two runner-up finishes with the second coming at the 2014 SCAC Championships.

As a team the Pirates finished outside of the top 10 just once – an 11th place finish at the NCAA Championships. The team also claimed two wins on the season giving the Pirates six top five finishes out of nine tournaments.
