Murphy was a two-time Arkansas 5A All-State golfer and has appearend in six AJGA tournaments, finishing as high a fifth place at the 2012 Stacy Lewis Open in Bella Vista, Ark. He was on the United States Junior Golf Tour All-Academic Team in 2012.

Connor is the son of Mike and Kathy Murphy and has one sibling, Morgan. He is currently undecided on his major.
