Men's Golf Finishes Ninth at Rhodes College Invitational

The Southwestern men's golf team traveled to Tunica, Missisippi to play at the Rhodes College Invitational this week. The event was hosted at Tunica National with a strong field of 17 teams. 

Day one of the Rhodes College Invitational consisted of two rounds on the 6950 yard, par 72 course. Matthew Peesker led the team throughout the day shooting 76, 71 with five birdies over his two rounds. Bryce Stiemert (75,76), Ricky Mitchell (74,79), Austin Leggio (76,77) and Sam McClure (77,78) rounded out the day one scores for the Pirates, landing them in 10th place following the first two rounds. 

Day two and the final round brought many birdies for the Pirates with 12 total birdies from the team in round 3. Bryce Stiemert finished in 12th place with a final round of a two-under 70. Matthew Peesker also finished in the top-15, tied for 13th shooting a 75 for the final round. Sam McClure also posted a good round of even par 72 to help the team toward a ninth place finish overall. 

The Pirates will compete again on October 9-10 at the Alamo City Classic in San Antonio, TX.
