Men’s golf in fifth after day one

Southwestern opened the spring season on Monday at the Linda Lowery Invitational at Falconhead Golf Club in Austin. Through 18 holes, Southwestern sits in fifth place with 328 strokes, trailing Schreiner by 17 but only three strokes out of third.

Jordan Cowart led Southwestern with an opening round 79, ending the day tied for seventh. Sutherland Stith, Cody Hebert and Erik Walinder all had an 83 in the first round to end tied for 19th. Tyler Gammill closed out the Pirates with an 85, tied for 32nd.

Schreiner's Cheyne Kendall leads the pack with a one over par 73.

SU's Connor Murphy and Andrew DeHennis also competed as individuals with both players posting an 88.

Southwestern returns to the links for the second and final round on Tuesday.
