Gammill wins Abilene Intercollegiate; #8 Pirates take fourth

For the second time this fall, first-year Tyler Gammill was the top finisher. Gammill's 142 was two strokes ahead of his nearest competitor to win the Abilene Intercollegiate on Tuesday. 

Gammill had a senational start to the tournament, posting not just the lowest round of the day but also the lowest round of the tournament with a 68 on day one. His 74 on day two gave him a two stroke lead and the hardware. 

Jordan Cowart rallied for a huge day two to finish in second for the Pirates and tied for 13th overall with 153 strokes (80-73). Sutherland Stith was steady with a 79-75 to finish iwth 154 strokes and tied for 18th while Cody Hebert wasn't far behind with 159 strokes (79-80) ending tied for 28th. Connor Murphy rounded out the Pirate effort with a 162, tied for 35th. 

Southwestern ended the event with a combined 605 strokes for fourth place overall. UT Tyler won the event with 596 strokes. Concordia came in second (599) and Mary Hardin-Baylor third (603). 

The Abilene Intercollegiate ends the fall season for the Pirates. They return to the course on February 16th as they compete in the Linda Lowery Invitational hosted by Concordia University.
