Men's Golf Finishes NCAA Division III Championships Tied for 24th

NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. – The Southwestern University Pirates men's golf team dropped into a tie for 24th place at the NCAA Division III Championship after a rough second round, missing the cut. 

Cade Osgood paced the Pirates, improving on his first round performance by one stroke, shooting a 74 to finish two over par. Osgood started on hole 10, picking up two bogeys and one double-bogey, almost offseting it with three birdies on holes 13, 14, and 18. He birdied on holes 1 and 2, double-bogeyed on 6 and bogeyed on 8. He finished in a tie for 35th, making the cut to compete for an individual championship. 

Matthew Christl finished in a tie for 39th place, shooting a 78 in Round 2 to finish with a score of 151. Christl bogeyed five times on the front nine with one birdie, scoring four over par heading into the back nine. He had a birdie on the 14th hole, bogeying three more times to finish the day six over par.

Devon Horne finished one stroke off his first round mark, scoring a 79. Horne birdied three times on the front nine but had three bogeys and a double bogey on the ninth hole, finishing five over par in the second round to finished tied for 102nd place.

John Kellum scored a 92 and Sutherland Stith scored a 93 to finish 168 and 174.
