Rain Cancels Day Two; Pirates Win After Sensational Opening Round

TUNICA, Miss. - All it took was one record setting round for the men's golf team to capture a big win at the Rhodes College Men's Fall Classic. Southwestern shot a 281, a new record for Southwestern and the tournament, in round one and captured the win after rain canceled day two.

Jordan Cowart was untouchable as he shot a seven-under-par 65 to win the classic. He was four strokes ahead of second place and he set a new SU record for the lowest round in program history.

Cameron Button continues to play exceptionally well and posted a 70 on day one to come in tied for third place. Cody Hebert was not far behind, tied for 10th, with an even-par 72 while James Charles had a solid round with a 74 to end tied for 20th. Mkey Vaughn hit a rough patch on the front nine to end with an 80 and tied for 65th place.

Southwestern's team score of 281 was 13 strokes ahead of second place Emory, crushing the rest of the field.

The Pirates continue fall play on September 24-25 at the UMHB Fall Classic in Killeen, Texas.
