Back-to-Back: Southwestern, Gammill seize SCAC Title

BLANCO, Texas - For the second consecutive season the Southwestern men's golf team won the SCAC Championship with Tyler Gammill taking Medalist honors. 

Southwestern headed into the final day with a slight lead and extended their lead throughout the day to win by nine strokes with a team score of 912. 

Gammill trailed teammate Matthew Christl the majority of the tournament but pulled ahead by birdying two of the final three holes to win by two strokes with a 226 (74-79-73). Christl had an outstanding first collegiate championship, leading the majority of the second and third rounds to finish in second place overall with 228 strokes (71-75-82). 

Sutherland Stith ended the championship tied for third with a 230 (79-74-77). Cade Osgood posted a 235 to finish in 12th (79-77-79) and lone senior Andrew DeHennis shot his lowest round of the tournament on Tuesday to finish in 18th (84-80-75). 

Gammill, Christl and Stith all earn All-SCAC First Team honors for their finish.

Despite winning the tournament, Southwestern will have to await the results of the NCAA Selection Show next week to learn if they have earned their fifth consecutive bid into the NCAA Division III National Championship hosted by Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida May 16-19.
