Men's Golf Places Second at Rhodes Fall Classic

TUNICA, Miss. – The Southwestern University Pirates men's golf team held steady on the final day of the Rhodes Collegiate Fall Classic, finishing second with a three-round score of 873 to finish nine over par. 

Southwestern shot 2984 on the final day after shooting 290 and 289 in the first two round while first-place Huntingdon College improved each round, finishing with a three-round score of 846 to finish 18 under par at the 20-team event.

Christian Rodriguez paced the Pirates, placing in the top five with a combined score of 212 after shooting 70, 72, 70.  Rodriguez was solid throughout, finishing third in the event with 38 pars and 10 birdies. Cade Osgood shot 73 in the final round, ending the event with 10 birdies and 36 pars to finish in a tie for seventh as the only other Pirate to finish under par at two under.

John Kellum was consistent, shooting 73 in all three rounds to finish in the top 20 at 18th with a score of 219. Thomas Kuznar (235, 73rd) and Colin O'Hern (238, 81st) rounded out the Pirates' lineup.

 The second-place finish is the highest for the men's golf team this season in two events after placing fourth in the John Bohmann Invitational hosted by Texas Lutheran University. The Pirates will return to action on Saturday, oct. 12 for the Golfweek Fall Invitational in Destin, Fla. At the Sandestin Resort.
