#10 men’s golf in fourth through two rounds

The Southwestern men's gold team finished fourth, shaking off a rough first round, while the black team slid to seventh after day one of the West Region Invitational at Berry Creek Country Club.

Schreiner University leads the field with 602 strokes. Southwestern Gold posted a 624 (323-301) while Southwestern Black had a 645 (325-306). Just 12 strokes separate 2nd - 6th place. 

Sutherland Stitch led the gold group tied for ninth with a nine-over-par 153 while Jordan Cowart and Cody Hebert tied for 13th with a 12 over par 156. Connor Murphy finished in 19th place at 15 over par (159) and Tyler Gammill was tied for 27th at 163 strokes.

Michael Gebhardt led the black squad with a 14 over par 158 to end tied for 17th. Andrew DeHennis finished tied for 22nd (161), Curtis Cuccia tied for 29th at 164, Erik Walinder in 34th with 168 strokes and Omeed Azmoudeh in 37th with 173 strokes.

McMurry's Mitchel Fagan led the field with a one-over-par 145 (74-71).

Southwestern will close the Invitational with one round on Tuesday.
