Men's Golf Closes West Region Invitational with Victory

GEORGETOWN - The Southwestern University men's golf team won the West Region Invitational, holding off Concordia Texas and Mary Hardin-Baylor, with a three-round score of 899 (+35) after shooting a 306 in final round.

The Tornadoes placed second with at three-round score of 905 (+41) while the Crusaders were third at 909 (+45). Hardin-Simmons earned a fourth place finish at 917 (+53) while Texas Lutheran wrapped up the top five at 918 (+54).

Junior Matthew Christl and sophomore Cade Osgood each shot a 74 (+2) in the final round for a three-round score of 222 (+6) to place tied for second. Junior Devon Horne placed seventh after shooting a 77 (+5) for a three-round score of 226 (+10).

Senior Tyler Gammill finished with a 231 (+15) while sophomore Andrew Augustine rounded it out with a 239 (+23). 

Additionally, the Southwestern B team competed with freshman Zane Warren earning a ninth place finish after shooting a 227 (+11) while senior Sutherland Stith added a 233 (+17). Sophomore John Kellum shot a 238 (+22) while senior Curtis Cuccia shot a 249 (+33).

The Pirates return to action on April 23rd as they will defend their crown at the SCAC Championships on the Panther Trail Golf Course.
