Men's Golf in Eighth at San Antonio Invitational

San Antonio, Texas - The Southwestern men's golf team finished the first day of the San Antonio Invitational with a two round score of 635 which puts them at eighth in the tournament. 

The 7,106 yard Canyons course was a handful for the field as only two players finished under par on the day and only one player shot under par in the second round. Junior Christian Rodriguez put himself in the top ten with 76-75, only three shots back from the third place markers. Freshman Bryce Stiemert trails behind Rodriguez by five strokes and is tied for 16th in the tournament, going +12 for the day. 

Nicholas Hoisington played consistently in his rounds and put himself in the top half of the field in a tie for 23rd, shooting 80-78. 

Concordia University (TX) sits at the top of the team leaderboard with a score of 601 including one player tied for first and another for third. Trinity trails Concordia by four strokes with LeTourneau, St. Thomas and Pacific Lutheran rounding out the top five, respectively. 

The Pirates' should have a good opportunity to improve their standing on Tuesday with favorable weather in the forecast.
