Southwestern, Christl lead SCAC Championship through two rounds

BLANCO, Texas - Southwestern was outstanding on the front nine in both rounds to finish in first after day one action. Matthew Christl is at the top of the leaderboard individually after shooting a 146 (71-75).

Southwestern's team score of 608 is just three strokes ahead of Texas Lutheran. Christl holds just a one stroke advantage over his nearest competitor, Taner Zimmerhanzel of TLU.

Christl posted an eagle in round one on the par-5 #8, putting him in the lead after the first round at one-under-par. After shooting two-over-par on the back nine, Christl closed the day going par, birdie, birdie to remain in the lead.

Tyler Gammill and Sutherland Stith tied for seventh with 153 strokes while Cade Osgood came in tied for 11th with 156 strokes and Andrew DeHennis in 22nd with 164 strokes.

Southwestern will look to secure their second consecutive SCAC Championship with one round on Tuesday.
