Three Pirates Named to the NCAA DIII PING All-Region Team

Three members of the Southwestern University Pirates men's golf team were named to the NCAA Division II PING All-Region West Team, the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced on Tuesday. 

Matthew Christl, Cade Osgood, and Sutherland Stith were on the list of 15 student-athletes who received West All-Region honors for 2019. 

In eight tournaments, Christl averaged a score of 72.91, finishing with an average of +1.41 versus par for an adjusted +1.08. He finished second in the Abilene Intercollegiate Invitational and the West Region Invitational. 

Through nine tournaments, Osgood's average score was 72.28, finishing +0.72 versus par for an adjusted +0.61. He finished second in the Abilene Intercollegiate Invitational, the Linda Lowery Invitational, and the ASC Conference Preview. 

Stith averaged a score of 72.84 over nine tournaments, scoring a +1.28 versus par and an adjusted +1.17. He finished fourth in the West Region Invitational and tied for fifth in the Golfweek DIII Fall Invite. 

The Pirates finished the regular season ranked seventh by the GCAA, earning a bid to the 2019 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships.
