Men’s tennis sweeps Saturday dual action

Southwestern men's tennis dropped just one match all day to defeat Schreiner 8-1 and Sul Ross State 9-0 in Kerrville on Saturday.

Schreiner snuck one doubles match from Southwestern, but the Pirates took all six singles matches. Nico Snovely won #1 singles 6-1, 6-2, Nick Farmen took #3 singles easily 6-0, 6-1 as did Neik Khansari in #5 singles. Will Ellis also won in straight sets 6-4, 6-2 in #6 singles. Ayinde Hall had a battle in #2 singles but came back after dropping the opening set 3-6, to win 6-2, 6-4. Grant Gideon also fell in his first set 2-6, but won 6-4, 6-3 to earn the win.

Southwestern easily handled Sul Ross in the afternoon match and were never even challenged as no Pirate allowed more than six points throughout the entire set.

The Pirates come home for the first time this spring to face Howard Payne University at 3 p.m. on Friday.
