GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - On Wednesday afternoon, Men's Tennis (6-5) hosted the No. 16th ranked Amherst Mammoths (6-0) at Marvin D. Henderson Courts. After three competitive double's matches, the Mammoths entered single play with a 2-1 lead and grew it to finish with the 7-2 win over the Pirates.
HIGHLIGHTS
- For No. 1 singles, Oscar Roy continued his high level of play, taking the 6-4,6-3 win over the 49th-ranked player in the country.
- Parth Patel and Bernie Clemente earned the sole doubles victory for the Pirates, winning 8-6 and No. 2.
NOTES
- Oscar Roy is now 5-1 versus ranked opponents, inclduing beating the country's #5 and 12th-ranked players
- Roy and Travis Rafferty battled back in doubles after being down 4-2, to take the lead 6-4, to ultimately fall short to Amherst
- Rylan Hastings stepped into the singles lineup and battled hard at No. 5, forcing a 3rd set and ended up falling 10-7 in the tiebreaker
