Men's Tennis Wraps Up Regular Season With 5-4 Win Over Colorado College

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Pirates hosted the Colorado College Tigers for their final conference matchup of the season. The men's tennis team honored seniors Anton Borovik, Ryan Flanagan and Travis Rafferty before the match and won a close one 5-4, with the seniors coming up big.

 

HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Pirates took a 2-1 lead after doubles following an 8-6 tiebreaker from Oscar Roy and Joseph Snyman, but they had to adjust their singles lineup.
  • Flanagan capped off the match on his senior day at No. 5 singles, breaking a 4-4 tie with a 6-3, 6-1 using a clutch low serve return to break on a deuce point and finish it off.
  • Rafferty battled back from behind for a key 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 3 and Bernardo Clemente had a big singles/doubles sweep, winning 8-4 with Parth Patel at No. 2 doubles and then winning 6-4, 6-0 at No. 4 singles.
  • Borovik also put the team first moving up to the No. 2 line, where he battled to a 6-4, 6-4 defeat, but allowed the Pirates to pick up big wins at No. 3, 4 and 5 behind him.

The Pirates will turn their focus to the post-season conference tournament, starting this Friday hosted by Austin College.
