Men's Tennis Falls In SCAC Championship Match

SAN ANTONIO — Southwestern men's tennis closed the SCAC Championship Tournament with a 5-2 loss to the defending champion and host Trinity University Tigers. 

Drew Shuvalov and Carlos Esteban Rodero suffered an 8-1 loss to Christian Settles and Hao Nguyen in No. 1 doubles. Vesko Lekovic and Hunter Bajoit won a hard-fought match over Cameron Krimbill and Alessio Azzalini by a score of 8-5 in No. 2 doubles. Alexander Joseph and Antonio Borovik were bested 8-5 by Jordan Pitts and Wilson Hamilton in No. 3 doubles. 

In singles, Bajoit defeated Krimbill 6-4, 3-3 in the top spot. Anton Borovik lost 6-3, 6-2 to Settles in No. 6 singles. Pitts scored a 7-5, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles over Steven Tibbetts. Azzalini clinched the match with a 7-5, 7-6 win over Joseph in No. 2 singles. 

With the loss, Southwestern ends the season with a 14-2 record. Both losses came against Trinity, which won its 11th consecutive conference championship.
