GEORGETOWN, Texas — A pair of come-from-behind victories propelled the Southwestern men's tennis team to its second win of the season with a 6-3 victory over the Concordia Tornados.

After Alexander Joseph and Millan Fernandes opened the match with an 8-2 victory over Michael Davis and Jorge Garcia in No. 3 doubles, Hunter Bajoit and Vesko Lekovic scored a comeback 8-5 win over Robin Van Der Heijden and Joeri Bregman to give the Pirates a 2-1 lead heading into singles.

Alexander Joseph dropped his first set in No. 3 singles but swept the next two to clinch the Pirates' match.

"Hunter and Vesko ran off five straight games from 3-5 down to get us the 2-1 lead we desperately needed," head coach Billy Porter said. "Alex Joseph lost a weird first set, then won 12 straight games for the clinch."

Concordia showed resiliency with Joshua Bode pacing the Tornados with a three-set win (6-0, 5-7, 6-3) in No. 1 singles and teaming with Esteban Arredondo to pick up the 8-6 win in No. 1 doubles. Evan Pena Jr. picked up another three-set win (6-7, 6-3, 12-10) for Concordia in No. 6 singles.

Southwestern, however, held steady in the second through fifth spots, posting wins from Joseph, Bajoit, Carlos Esteban Rodero, and Steven Tibbetts

"Carlos, Steven, and Hunter were all rock solid in singles," Porter said. "I love the way they took care of business tonight."

With the win, Southwestern improves to 2-0 on the season, dropping Concordia to 0-2. The Pirates will face NCAA Division II St. Mary's on Friday, Feb. 26, and Schreiner on Saturday, Feb. 27.
