
GEORGETOWN, Texas — The No. 23-ranked Southwestern men's team wrapped up its regular season with a decisive 9-0 victory over the Sul Ross State Lobos.
"Assistant coach Tosha Smith stepped up again and led rthe team to a decisive victory," Southwestern head tennis coach Billy Porter says.
After Southwestern's Jared Burton and Hemanshu Rambojun scored an 8-4 win over Kyle Villalon and Jackson Taylor at No. 1 doubles, the Pirates posted a pair of 8-0 victories in the final two doubles matches.
Travis Rafferty and Daniel Haley defeated Trey Nelson and Mitchell Martinez at No. 2 doubles, and Hunter Bajoit and Nico Guarin won against Justin Corbett and Branden Lewis at No. 3.
Southwestern posted a trio of flawless 6-0, 6-0 victories at the top of the lineup. Bajoit defeated Villalon for a second time today, Anton Borovik won against Lewis, and Daniel Haley was victorious against Hugo Flores.
Rafferty bested Corbett 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4 singles, Rambojun shutout Taylor 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles, and Guarin defeated Martinez 6-0, 6-1.
Southwestern wraps up its season with a 13-6 record. The Pirates will compete in the SCAC Championships next weekend, starting Friday, April 29, in Kerrville, Texas.
