LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- The Southwestern University men's tennis team earned the No. 6 seed for the upcoming SCAC Men's Tennis Championships set to begin Friday, April 25 in San Antonio the league office announced.
Southwestern finished the regular season 6-7 and will battle No. 3 seed Colorado College at 8 a.m. Friday. It will be the second meeting between the two schools in less than a week as they met in Georgetown on Sunday with the Tigers taking a 6-3 victory.
The Pirates are led by Niko Snovely who finished the regular season at 11-1 with all of the first-year players wins coming at the No. 1 position.
Egan Cornachione will enter the tournament with a 7-6 record as he went 5-5 at No. 2 singles and 1-1 at No. 3 singles. Cornachione was also 1-0 in an appearance at the No. 1 position and teamed with Zayn Evans to post a 2-0 record in doubles.
The host school, Trinity University, is the top seed for the fifth consecutive year, and the seventh-ranked Tigers will attempt to make it five-for-five in SCAC titles during that stretch.
Trinity, which defeated Colorado College, 9-0, in last year's title game, received a first-round bye and won't play until Saturday morning at 8 a.m.
