Yu was a member of the Pirate tennis team.

Yu was 1-1 on the season in singles competition. He also was 2-3 in doubles competition, playing in the #3 spot.

Yu attended Washington University in St. Louis but did not compete.

Edward is the son of Xin Zhang and Haoran Yu and has two siblings, Victoria and Kristina. He is majoring in biology at Southwestern.
