Pirates Sweep The Cowboys

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Men's tennis hosted the Cowboys of Hardin-Simmons University for a Friday, evening match at Henderson Courts. The Pirates battled hard in doubles and earned all three points while continuing the high-level play in singles to earn the 9-0 sweep. 

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Jared Burton and Anton Borovik started things off with an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles for the first point, and Bernardo Clemente and Parth Patel took an 8-4 win at No. 2 for a 2-0 lead. At No. 1, Oscar Roy and Joseph Snyman had to battle to a 9-7 win in a tiebreaker, fighting off a match point.
  • Roy then helped make sure there was no drama for the clinch, with a dominant 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles, while Ryan Flanagan followed right behind with a 6-1, 6-3 win for the clinch at No. 4.
  • Snyman came back for the final four games in a row after being down a break in the second for a 6-2, 7-5 win.
  • Clemente showed great resilience battling back for a 2-6, 7-6, 11-9 victory at No. 3, Rylan Hastings added a strong effort at 5, taking a 6-4, 6-2 win, and Rajesh capped off the match at No. 6 with a gritty comeback, winning 6-7, 6-4, 10-8, after being down 7-5 in the third-set tiebreaker.

Both the Men's and Women's tennis teams host a doubleheader on Saturday, starting with a match versus Schreiner at 11:30 AM and ending the day with a match against East Texas Baptist University at 4:00 PM on Henderson Courts.
