GEORGETOWN, Texas — Southwestern men's tennis play a competitive exhibition against NCAA Division II Midwestern State but lost the match 6-3.

Hunter Bajoit and Steven Tibbetts scored an 8-2 win over Brice Bradshaw and Corbin Ford at No. 2 doubles, but Midwestern State recovered with 8-3 wins at No. 1 and 3 doubles. Jared Burton and Hemanshu Rambojun lost to Alex Martinez Roca and Ben Westwick and No. 1 doubles, and Oscar Roy and Carlos Esteban Rodero lost to Stephen Slocombe and Quintin Sharfenberg.

"While the scores tell a different story at No. 1 and No. 3, we played pretty good doubles for the most part," Southwestern head tennis coach Billy Porter says. "There are some things Midwestern State did that made us uncomfortable but I thought we demonstrated the ability to adapt quite well."

Southwestern scored a pair of big, three-set wins at the top of the singles lineup. Bajoit defeated Roca 7-6, 6-2, 12-10 at No. 1 singles, and Borovik bested Bradshaw 6-4, 3-6, 10-6 at No. 2 singles.

"Hunter pulled out an incredible win over an extremely strong player. He never flinched after leading 6-1 in the 10-point breaker when it got to 7-7. At 9-8, he missed a passing shot but kept his composure to finish it out," Porter says. "Anton played the best match in his two years here. His shot tolerance was much improved from where it's been and really limited the negative energy. Awesome win for him."

Midwestern State swept the rest of the singles lineup to close out the match.

Southwestern (12-6) will close out the regular season with a match against Sul Ross State on Friday, April 22, while members of the team are also simultaneously competing at The Ojai.
