Men's Tennis Perfect In Doubleheader Against TLU

SEGUIN, Texas — The Southwestern men's tennis team swept the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs in a conference doubleheader, scoring a pair of 9-0 victories at the Ohlenbusch-Rinn Tennis Center. 

Southwestern used the first match to mix and match its lineups, with Nico Guarin making his season debut, scoring two points for the Pirates. The senior from Houston, Texas, teamed with Anton Borovik at no. 3 doubles, defeating Dristan Weaver and Quin Johnson 8-2. Guarin also scored a 6-2, 6-0 win over Rien Solis at no. 6 singles. 

Hunter Bajoit and Hemanshu Rambojun were teamed together at no. 1 doubles for the first time since an 8-2 win over Sewanee on Feb. 20, defeating Simon Carandang and Aaron Salinas 8-1. Then, Daniel Haley and Travis Rafferty won 8-2 over Hunter Kemball-Cook and Joshua Huang in their first match together. 

Bajoit, Haley, and Max Pearson scored 6-0, 6-0 wins at no. 1, 4, and 5 singles. Jared Burton defeated Carandang 6-0, 6-2 at no. 2 singles, and Rafferty defeated Huang 6-1, 6-3 at the no. 3 spot to complete the sweep. 

Southwestern played most of its regular lineup in the second match, scoring a trio of perfect 8-0 wins in doubles with Lekovic and Rambojun defeating Carandang and Kemball-Cook, Bajoit and Burton beating Weaver and Salinas, and Oscar Roy and Carlos Esteban Rodero winning against Solis and Johnson. 

Lekovic, Borovik, and Haley were flawless with 6-0, 6-0 victories at no. 2, 3, and 6 singles. Bajoit surrendered a single point in a 6-0, 6-1 win over Carandang at no. 1 singles, Steven Tibbetts scored a 6-0, 6-2 win over Salinas at no. 4 singles, and Rafferty defeated Johnson 6-1, 6-0. 

Southwestern improves to 9-6 with a 2-0 conference record. Tomorrow, Southwestern will travel to Houston, Texas, for matches against the University of St. Thomas and Prairie View.
