Men's Tennis Wins Fourth Consecutive Match

GEORGETOWN, Texas — The Southwestern men's tennis team scored an 8-1 victory over the University of Ozarks Eagles, extending its win streak to four matches.

Vesko Lekovic and Hemanshu Rambojun suffered an 8-5 defeat at No. 1 singles, but Hunter Bajoit and Jared Burton avenged the loss with an 8-3 win over TJ Saniseng and Aaron Gambrell in No. 2 doubles, and Oscar Roy and Carlos Esteban Rodero won 8-0 over Joshua Wilde and Griffin Huckelbury at No. 3 doubles.

"Vesko and Hemanshu actually played good tennis and just could not execute at the net," Southwestern tennis head coach Billy Porter says. "They set their points up well and just struggled to put balls away."

Bajoit shut out Yamaya 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, and Lekovic defeated Scott Stewart 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 singles. Anton Borovik bested Gambrell 6-0, 6-3 at No. 3 singles, Steven Tibbetts won 6-3, 6-0 over Wilde at No. 4 singles, Roy delivered a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Jan Puvill Fuertes at No. 5 doubles, and Daniel Haley won 6-2, 6-1 over Kao Lenkopane at No. 6.

"Anton fought off a tricky opponent in tough conditions and got himself a quality win to bounce back into the win column," Porter says. "Daniel's passing shots were incredible today. He played a solid opponent that moved well and was hitting his spots the way he needed to."

The No. 23-ranked Pirates improve to 6-4 and host the No. 2-ranked University of Chicago on Thursday at 5:00 p.m.
