Men's Tennis Defeated by CalTech

Men's Tennis Defeated by CalTech

Southwestern Men's Tennis was defeated by the CalTech Beavers this past Wednesday, March 29, 2023. The Pirates put up a fight but lost 2-7.

The Pirates were down 1-2 after doubles but were clearly still in the match. Ashton Ellis and Oscar Roy battled their opponents at line one doubles and came out with a win, getting the Pirates' first point of the day. This was an outstanding performance by Roy and Ellis.

Entering singles, the Pirates were ready to play hard to come back from 1-2 down. The energy was high and the men's team was amped up. Throughout the course of singles, Oscar Roy gained the final point for the Pirates in straight sets. Roy was focussed on gaining a point for the Pirates while also cheering on his teammates from his court. He managed this while also maintaining a clear determination to win.

While the Southwestern Men's Tennis team battled hard, they did not quite get the win. This was a competitive match that gave the Pirates some tough matches. Although they did not win, they left this match better ready for conference.

Once again, be sure to mark your calendars for the Conference Tournament which will be held here at Southwestern University on April 28-30, at the Pirates' home courts!
