GEORGETOWN, Texas — Southwestern men's tennis suffered a wake-up call loss to the Sewanee Tigers with a 6-3 defeat to fall to 1-4 to start the season.

Hunter Bajoit and Hemanshu Rambojun gave Southwestern a strong start with an 8-2 victory over Ryan Olps and Noah Holsclaw in Line 1 doubles. However, Sewanee took the other two doubles matches for the 2-1 lead.

Quinn Wicklund and Mark Motlow defeated Jared Burton and Vesko Lekovic 8-4, and Oscar Roy and Steven Tibbetts lost 8-6 to Liam Baer and Hugh Graham.

"Hunter and Hemanshu picked up right where they left off and got us a bold point at No. 1," Southwestern head tennis coach Billy Porter says.

Bajoit picked up another point for Southwestern with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Olps in No. 1 singles. Lekovic lost a 7-3 tiebreak in his first set, falling 6-7, 2-6 to Noah Holsclaw in No. 2 singles. Anton Borovik battled Matt Barnett through three sets, losing the first-set tiebreaker 7-0 and the third-set tiebreaker 12-10 to fall 6-7, 6-1, 6-7.

Oscar Roy dropped a pair of sets 1-6, 3-6 to Wicklund in No. 4 singles, while Tibbetts won a 10-8 tiebreaker in the second set of his match against Gil Weston to win 6-0, 7-6 in No. 5 singles. Talan Ramsey bested Carlos Esteban Rodero 6-3, 6-3 in No. 6 singles.

"We aren't a very good team right now and are stuck in our past, not understanding that the present is different and currently happening," Porter says. "We will find out what this team is made of in the immediate future. We talked about adversity defining character after the match. Only time will tell."

Southwestern will host LeTourneau on Friday, March 4, at 4:00 p.m.
