Bajoit To Face Gorelik At NCAA Individual Championships

The NCAA announced the draws for the 2021 NCAA Division III Individual Championships, placing Southwestern men's tennis player Hunter Bajoit in a match against Tufts University's Isaac Gorelik in the first round.

Gorelik, a junior from Weston, Massachusetts, is the seventh-ranked men's tennis player in the Northeast Region and one of two Tufts athletes to qualify for the NCAA Individual Championships. He posted a 5-1 record from No. 2 singles, qualifying for his first NCAA Individual Championships appearance.

"Hunter drew a very strong player, but every player here is good," Head Men's Tennis Coach Billy Porter says. "He has prepared adequately, and his confidence is in a good place for a match like this."

Bajoit is also making his NCAA Individual Championships debut. The 2021 SCAC Co-Player of the Year posted a 12-2 record this season, including a perfect 11-0 from No. 2 singles. He is currently the No. 3-ranked player in the West Region.

Bajoit and Gorelik will begin tomorrow at 10 a.m. CST at the Champions Tennis Club in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Whoever advances will face the winner of the match between Southern Virginia's Kukutla Motlojoa and Carleton's Leo Vithoontien, the tournament's No. 4 seed.
