2015 was a banner year for the men's tennis team. Despite their youth the Pirate men were able to make a name for themselves within the region and advanced to the SCAC Championship match for the first time in program history while setting an SU record for wins in a season with 17.
Southwestern opened the Championship with an easy 5-0 win over Centenary after earning a bye as the #2 seed. The Pirates then faced Schreiner and dropped two of three doubles matches before sweeping singles play to win 5-2.
In the championship match the Pirates faced nationally-ranked Trinity. The veteran Tigers had a battle on their hands but were ultimately victorious as SU fell 5-0.
Southwestern went 17-3 on the year, falling to only UT Tyler, McMurry and Trinity.
