Sophomore Andrew Clarage (pictured) and first-year Alec Bergerson were recognized for their outstanding play at the SCAC Conference Tournament April 22-24 as 2011 SCAC Men's Tennis All-Tournament Team selections.
Clarage went 2-0 at the tournament in the #4 slot and was one of two student-athletes in the fourth seed to go undefeated on the weekend. He won 6-1, 6-0 over Bengston of Austin College, 6-1, 6-3 over Hendrix's Garimella, and was up 6-1 against Bastian of Millsaps before the match was called.
Bergerson competed in the sixth spot for Southwestern and went 2-0 over the weekend. He defeated Kunde of Austin College 6-4, 6-3 before easily handling Wynn of Hendrix 6-2, 6-1.
This is the first All-Tournament selection for both players.
Southwestern closed out the championships up two spots from their seeding, finishing in ninth place.
