Injuries Lead to Challenging Weekend

The Southwestern men's tennis team has been bit by the injury bug and had a tough weekend at the Conference Challenge hosted by Austin College. Southwestern went 0-3 at the event and fall to 3-11.

SU opened with Millsaps on Friday afternoon and fell behind 3-0 after doubles play. Alex Lam took #1 singles with a win over Schick to put the Pirates back on track, but Southwestern dropped the rest of the contests to fall 8-1.

Saturday pitted the Pirates against Austin College and Colorado College. Once again SU lost the three doubles matches but opened up strong in singles action against the 'Roos. Lam, Alexander Reinsch and Andy Clarage won the top three singles matches to pull the Pirates even, but Austin took the final three including a forced SU forfeit due to injury for the 6-3 win.

Clarage and Andrew Olsson won their doubles match against White/Lindsay of Colorado College to start Southwestern off 2-1 against the Tigers. Lam once again controlled his match in #1 singles but the Pirates were unable to secure another win and fell 7-2.

Lam led the way on the weekend, going 3-3 in singles. The Pirates return to the court on Friday against the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor at home beginning at 2pm.
