PIRATES HAVE SOLID SHOWING AT ITA REGIONALS

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Pirate men's tennis team competed at the ITA Regionals this weekend and came away with some solid finishes and consistent performances. Southwestern was one of 12 schools to compete at the Regional.

Alex Lam and D'Artagnan Bebel (pictured) had great tournaments, both individually and as a duo in doubles action. Bebel defeated UMHB's White and UTD's Alda before falling to UT Tyler's Singer 6-1, 6-3 in the round of 16. Lam also won his first two matches, beating LeTourneau's delaFuente and HSU's Strehlow before falling to Breaux of McMurry. In doubles action the pair took down Hardin-Simmons' McCullough/Larson 8-3 before losing to eventual champion Cocanougher/Kowal of Trinity.

Alexander Reinsch also competed in the men's A singles bracket, but lost his first match 6-2, 6-2. In doubles action Reinsch teamed up with Andy Clarage to beat Austin College's Rousch/Taylor before losing to finalist DelaFuente/Frey of Trinity.

In men's B singles Southwestern's Andrew Olsson and Riley Bunnell both fell in their openers had the opportunity to regroup in the consolation bracket. Olsson went on to dominate Thornton of HPU 6-1, 6-0 before falling to Dunson of Hendrix. Bunnell was not able to rebound as he fell 6-3, 6-0 in his consolation match. The pair joined forces for men's B doubles and had a good showing, outlasting their opponents in the first two matches 9-7 and 8-6. The duo of Dunson/Dinehart thad their number, however, as the pair defeated Olsson/Bunnell 8-3 and advanced to the finals one match later.

The Pirates will next head to Brownwood, Texas for a head-to-head match against Howard Payne University on Saturday, October 9th.
