YOUTHFUL PIRATES OPEN SEASON AT DOC SKOGMAN INVITATIONAL

SEGUIN, Texas – A young Pirate squad that has just one senior member took to the courts to launch their 2010-11 campaign and did so with a good showing despite a rocky start.

Sophomore Alex Lam fell 6-2, 6-1 in his opening match but rebounded to win the consolation bracket, defeating Packard of TLU 6-1, 6-1 and OLLU's Padilla 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (8) to end in fifth place in flight A singles.

Andrew Clarage opened up with a win in Flight B, defeating Moellering of TLU 3-6, 6-4 1-0 (6) before falling to Moreno of St. Mary's 6-0, 6-0 and Rutten of St. Mary's 6-2, 6-1 to finish in fourth place.

The duo paired up for doubles action and dropped their first match but won out in the consolation bracket taking fifth place.

The Pirate men head to Waco, TX on September 18th to take on fellow SCAC opponent Austin College in a dual meet beginning at 10am.
